5 crucial selling tips for eBay success!

If you are looking for a quick and easy way of making money, then eBay could be the answer to all of your prayers!

eBay is an ideal little business venture for students, mothers or just anybody looking to make a bit of spare cash because it is so simple to use and whatever your schedule, you can fit it around your daily routine.

So to help you get started and make the most of your eBay selling experience, I have done some research and put together 5 top tips to help you on your way to making money on the UK’s biggest auction site.

  1. Set up your account and choose a suitable name

It may sound quite obvious, but if you want people to take your online store seriously, then It’s worth having a good think about what you want your store’s name to be before setting up your account. Remember It’s stuck with you forever. My advice would be to keep it simple and professional, that way it is also easier for people to remember.

2. Buy your basics

Before you get started, make sure you are prepared for your customers. You’ll need to stock up on basic supplies such as boxes, parcel tape and other packaging equipment depending on what you’re selling. If you don’t have this at the ready, It’ll slow down your dispatches and could lead to bad customer reviews!

3. Go low on prices

I know it might not seem particularly appealing to list your products at 99p, but it will encourage bidding wars and could lead to high profits. If your prices are too high to start with, potential customers will just look elsewhere. You can always add a reserve price if you are worried about cheap listings.

Keep an eye out for free listings days and discounts as eBay put them out often. eBay give private sellers up to 20 listings free per month. Anymore will cost 35p.

4. PayPal Payment

For an added means of security, it is recommended that you only take payment over Paypal. This is an instantaneous transaction and you will see it in your bank straight away. It’s the most common form of payment on eBay so could attract more people to your store.

5. Promotion

Once you have added new listings, don’t just let the items sell themselves, promote them on social media platforms and be prepared to answer any questions about your product that customers may have. And be as honest as possible with your answers! A good selling reputation is key for expanding your online store.
