5 Ways To Keep The Kids Entertained During Lockdown

Kids going up the wall? This lockdown is tough for us grown-ups, never mind the little ones! Here are five ways to kill time and beat boredom whilst we’re staying safe at home.

Bring the fun to lockdown with these five activities.

1. Stream the time away!

Thank the Lord for streaming services! Our top pick for keeping kids busy is Disney+. With more tv shows and movies than you could shake a stick at, there’s enough to keep the whole family entertained. From toddlers to teens, your kids are sure to find something to enjoy watching. Browse through series’, films, and documentaries from the Disney, Marvel, and Star Wars universes. Get your FREE 7 day trial today!

2. Get creative with DIY

There are a whole host of great kid friendly DIY ideas on the internet at the moment. Using recyclable materials such as milk bottles and bin bags is a fun way to teach kids the importance of repurposing items, and an exciting way to keep their imagination ticking! Why not make a bird house from an empty milk bottle, or a new toy from empty loo roll tubes? Use Toy Story’s Forky character for inspiration!

3. Use free online resources

From the new Harry Potter At Home website, to Joe Wicks’ morning PE classes, thank god for the world wide web! There are so many fantastic resources around, some educational, some fun – some both! Our top picks include Bear Grylls’ Great Indoors (learn Scouts tips and tricks and DIY), Carol Vorderman’s maths classes, and of course JK Rowling’s Harry Potter At Home where you can take Hogwarts classes and learn all about the Wizarding World.

4. Get moving!

We’ve already mentioned the Joe Wicks P.E classes at 9am every morning, but that’s not the only way to keep kids active. Why not help them create a Spotify playlist, and have a dance party at home? Or crack out old school board games like Twister. You could even hold your own sports day in the garden!

5. Keep to a routine

This is a great way to ensure you keep structure to your household lockdown, and keeps children from feeling like it’s all one long holiday! We’ve got a handy class timetable which you can use (see below) if you’re sticking to an academic structure. If not, simply set aside times per day to do certain activities like watch a film, read a book, or go for a walk. This helps the days pass quicker and lessens your likelihood to hear those infamous “I’m booored” words!
