How to swap and save on gift cards! 

We all at one time or another have been given a voucher by some well-meaning relative for a store we either don’t use or have nowhere near us, we say thank you, pop it in a draw and probably forget about it until it’s expired (or in some cases no longer exists i.e the Woolworths gift card I found recently)

But now there is a site that is planning on making this a thing of the past and it’s called Zeek. This handy app you download to your phone allows you to list any unwanted gift cards or buy any that you’re looking for. It has everything from Boots and Topshop to Halfords and Tesco’s.

I decided to check it out to see how much of a bargain you’re actually getting. Logging on is easy and takes the minimum amount of details from you, you can even pay through Pay Pal so you feel secure buying. There were a number of cards available with each listing the face value of the card and the amount they wanted for it. I was slightly disappointed how close the asking price was to a lot of the cards, sometimes with only £3 difference between them.

I had found a Groupon earlier that allowed me to buy £20 worth of credit for £9 but then added a 20% off code so got £20 worth of credit for £7.50 (you didn’t expect me to pay full price did you?)

I perused the vouchers and finally settled on a Boots voucher for £26, they were asking for £24 for it, not a great saving if I was just going in through their site without the credit from Groupon, but in this case I only had to stump up the £4 difference, plus the original £7.50 (I went in through Topcashback to buy it as well so will get 5.25% back as well) making it £11.50 for £26 worth of Boots vouchers I can save for Christmas or something nice for later.

Doing it this way I’m happy with the amount I saved, but just logging onto the site to maybe save £2-3 pounds and wait up to 7 days for delivery might prove too much for even the most patient of money saver, with a lot of fuss for little reward.
