Advice regarding drinking alcohol and pregnancy has changed!
The guidelines on how much alcohol you should drink if you are pregnant have been known to change regularly, and now they have changed again as the British Medical Association is set to announce that women should not drink ANY alcohol while pregnant.
The Metro have reported: ‘At its annual conference this week the British Medical Association (BMA) is set to announce that women should not drink any alcohol while pregnant.
Professor Sir Al Aynsley Green, president of the BMA, has called for stricter Government advice and ‘more explicit’ warnings on bottles and cans.’
As it stands, the NHS currently warns that pregnant women should avoid alcohol but if they do drink, they should limit their intake to one or two units once or twice a week to minimise the risk to their baby, but now the ‘no alcohol’ approach to pregnancy will clear up any confusion that mums to be may have.
Apparently the new guidelines will be simpler and much safer for mums to be. So if you are pregnant and have any questions regarding drinking alcohol and pregnancy, it may be worth speaking to your GP about any confusion over this announcement.
