National Carers Week

Are you or do you know a carer? They don’t get enough credit for what they do…

It is national carers week and I wanted to raise some support for all of the carers out there.

Many carers are children who care for their parents and they suffer from little or no social life, however they don’t moan about it – they are such an inspiration and they deserve so much praise.

Caring for a relative can leave you physically and emotionally exhausted but without the carers support, that relative may not be able to cope by themselves.

Carers are the unsung heroes and after watching This Morning today I seen such a heart touching story, we can all support this young carer and I hope you’ll all get involved too…

Olivia is a 14 year old girl who is a young carer for her Mum, Kirsty.

Kirsty was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis 6 years ago. Olivia was 8 at the time.

Olivia says that her day involves getting out of bed, helping her mum take her tablets, help her get dressed, go to school, come home, do housework, do homework, make dinner then go to bed.

Olivia has recently started blogging as she sees it as way of expressing how she feels and to spread awareness of carers. The blog was started 2 month ago and there is also a Facebook page to go with her blog which currently has 126 ‘likes’.

I think we could support her and help her increase her number of ‘likes’ and follows.
