This Trick Stops Phone Thieves From Making Calls As You

If you have ever had your phone stolen it can be a very big inconvenience. Most people can’t live without their phones, even for a day.

Even if you have protected your phone with a passcode or password, thieves can still get your contacts, make calls and texts as well. If your phone is on a contact, they can go over your allocated minutes and texts and then you will be forced to pay for it.

The way they do it is by using an unlocked phone and using your SIM card. When they use your SIM card they will be able to see your contacts and call and text them.

Unless you use this trick.

Not many people know that they can turn on a ‘SIM pin’. This means that when you want to call or text someone you need to put in a code. You will only need to put in the SIM pin when you turn your device on or when you put the SIM card into another device.

Depending on what type of phone you have, the way you turn on SIM lock changes.

If you have an IOS device (iPhone/iPad):

• If you have an iPhone: Settings> Phone> SIM Pin. If you have an iPad: Settings > Cellular Data > SIM Pin.
• Turn on/off SIM Pin.
• You may be asked for the SIM Pin. If you have not used it before, use the default SIM Pin. If you don’t know the default pin visit the carrier’s customer service website page, documents you received with the wireless plan or you can call them (A carrier is o2, Vodafone, etc…). If you use a SIM Pin, input the pin you use.
• Then press ‘Done’

For Android users:

• Settings> Security> Set up the SIM card lock.
• Check ‘Lock SIM card’
• Enter the default SIM Pin. If you don’t know the default pin visit the carrier’s customer service website page, documents you received with the wireless plan or you can call them (A carrier is o2, Vodafone, etc…).
• Then select ‘Change SIM PIN’
• When you’re requested to input the SIM pin, enter the default Sin Pin.
• You will then be asked to enter a new 4-digit Pin to protect your SIM.
• Then renter the new 4-digit Pin.

Using a SIM Pin a the thief won’t be able to cost you even more money than they already have. You never know if/when you phone will be stolen; so if it is, there is a new level of security.
