Afternoon tea with the family in North Shields

Are you in the North East of England? Maybe you’re planning a visit very soon? Either way, you MUST try Curiously Wicked Dappers – how cool is the name?!

I decided to pay them a visit after coming across their Facebook page, their afternoon tea looked delicious!

I love a treat of afternoon tea, my daughter and I have been to a few places in the past for afternoon tea but it would be a first for the boys and our first visit to Curiously Wicked Dappers.

You will find them in North Shields and it is a complete hidden gem. I would recommending calling ahead to book a table as the place is very popular with many people coming and going as we were here.

When we arrived we were shown to their comfortable waiting area whilst they got our table ready for us. This gives you a chance to check out some of their fabulous celebrating cakes they make.

We were taken through within 5 minutes to our table and it decorated with wonderful traditional teacups and saucers. This would be the perfect venue for a family treat, meeting with friends or a celebration.

My husband Aaron and step son simon opted for a traditional tea while myself, daughter Katie and son Jamie opted for a hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows. This is easily the BEST hot chocolate I have ever tasted – if you like your hot chocolate VERY chocolatey then you must give it a try.

I really need to take a moment to mention the owners of Curiously Wicked Dappers, Ian and Krystyna, you will not meet nicer hosts anywhere!

Ian was front of house and very friendly and attentive, nothing was too much trouble. Krystyna is head chef and she is lovely, she pays great attentional to detail in everything she does and really worked extra hard to ensure our children had a great visit, even personalising their afternoon tea.

The children’s afternoon tea arrived first complete with finger sandwiches, personalised chocolate mouse, home made biscuit, chocolate dipped strawberry, cake pop and a warm homemade scone.

The adult afternoon tea arrived and it looked delicious! Complete with homemade finger sandwiches, homemade french macaron, homemade Belgian chocolate brownie, homemade raspberry and white chocolate tart, warm homemade scones and even a homemade Jaffa cake!

Krystyna is a huge fan of The Great British Bake Off, just like Mr Money Saver, and she makes something from the GBBO every week to accompany their afternoon tea – it was the first fresh homemade Jaffa cake I’d ever had and it was delicious!

You got that many treats, the scones didn’t fit on the trays so they were brought separately. The children loved putting their own cream and homemade jam on their own scone.

We all loved the afternoon tea, my daughter and I agreed that it was the best afternoon tea we had ever had!

Jamie and Katie were discussing how much they loved the afternoon tea and they agreed it was a million out of 10, you have no idea how much this means from these fussy little eaters!

We are definitely going to return for afternoon tea in the future.

Oh! Before I forget, make sure you checkout their homemade chocolate bars they sell on the counter. We struggled to choose one before we left but eventually decided on caramel flavour and the kids chose a giant homemade jazzle – both were absolutely delicious!
