Are 1p and 2p coins a nuisance, or a necessity?

The Treasury have announced that they’re going to review the use of 1p and 2p coins. Pennies could become a thing of the past!

The review is happening due to statistics revealing that 60% of 1p and 2p coins are only used once before being stored in a jar or even being thrown away.

Physical money is being used less and less due to the increasing popularity of non-cash payments, such as card payments, contactless, and ApplePay.
