Aldi’s ‘Sensitive’ Baby Wipes Have Caused Rashes On Some Babies
The so called ‘Sensitive’ baby wipes, from Aldi, are now made by a different supplier and the change has caused some babies to develop some very nasty rashes.
Beccie Saxon, took to Facebook when she realised that it was the baby wipes that was harming her child.
In her Facebook post she said: “Warning to all mums that buy these wipes.
“I bought these wipes on the 13th and as soon as I opened them I knew they smelt different.
“After I had used them my little girl had a major rash. I didn’t connect the two straight away but after using cream it hadn’t gone and was still really bad, the worse it’s ever been.”
“I changed her wipes to the old ones and as soon as I used them the next morning the rash had gone.
“I thought there may have been a mix up in the factory and I had got fragranced wipes instead.”
She then contacted Aldi via email and they responded saying that they had changed supplier. The same packaging was used for the product, however, the change in supplier means the ingredients have changed too. Changes include the quantity of aloe and chamomile use to make the product.
She went on to say: “How can you still have what awards they have won on the front when it’s different. I now won’t be using them again.”
When contacting the company, she said that they should not mislead customers by using the same packaging as the original product. Using the same packaging means that some people will think the product is the same as before and use them. The new or changed ingredients could mean that their baby may have a bad reaction to the wipes.
Lisa Wear is another parent who has experienced an issue with the wipes. She says that her nine-month-old baby has also developed a rash due to the wipes.
She responded to beccie’s post by saying: “I have been blaming everything from teething to my little girl eating something that didn’t agree with her.
“I didn’t think about the wipes because they haven’t affected her bum, just her face has a rash.
“I’m disgusted. They should put a notice up saying they have changed something.”
After finding out it was the wipes that caused the rash, Lisa also made a complaint to Aldi.
Steph Clancy, from Aldi’s customer service, responded to Beccie’s complaint by saying that they changed their suppliers and that their products are tested before they are sold.
She then responded to the packaging complaint by saying that she will pass the complaint over to the ‘buying department’, for them and the supplier to look at.
Aldi made this statement: “All of our baby and toddler products are rigorously tested before going on sale and all ingredients are clearly labelled on the packaging.”
“As with all cosmetic products, there is the possibility of an individual intolerance to a particular ingredient. We are sorry to hear about Ms Saxon’s experience with this product and have raised this with our supplier.”
