Have you ever wished you could snack on a sausage roll whilst getting your weekly shop? Well, now you can, as Greggs are launching counters in Asda!

Asda is the first supermarket chain in the country to be offering tasty Greggs treats inside stores.

The counters won’t be scrimping on the menu offerings either! Greggs counters inside Asda supermarkets will be offering the same full menu as their regular bakery stores. Steak bakes for all!

Unfortunately it might be a little while until all Asda stores have a Greggs counter. The supermarket giant has announced that only a select few stores will have the new bakery department for the time being. But, if you live near the Boldon, Corby, Huyton, Wigan, or Eastlands Asda supermarkets – you’re in luck! Those five locations will be the first in the UK to enjoy having Greggs in-store.

Each location will be hiring between 40 and 50 staff to work at each counter, so it sounds like they’re anticipating high demand! Really though, who doesn’t love an iced bun?

Even though Greggs licence Iceland to sell a frozen range of their bakery products including sausage rolls and pies, this is the first major supermarket collaboration for the much loved brand.

Preyash Thakrar, chief strategy officer at Asda, told The Sun: “We are constantly looking for new ways to increase customer choice.

“By partnering with brands that fit our core values of great quality and great value – like Greggs – we are exciting to be able to give our customers access to something new in store that we know they will love.”

Greggs have confirmed that their counters within Asda are just a trial for the time being, but we’re sure they’re bound to be a hit with customers. What’s not to love about being able to get their famous cheese and onion pasties in more shops?!
