ASDA have dropped out of Black Friday!

Asda have said that they will no longer be taking part in Black Friday this year in a shock announcement.

The supermarket giant has revealed that they will not be taking part in the shopping discount day as their customers ‘don’t want to be held hostage to a day or two of sales’.

Instead of one-off sales, it will invest 26m in savings across the seasonal shopping period.

Asda’s chief executive Andy Clarke told BBC News: ‘The decision to step away from Black Friday is not about the event itself.”

“Over the last two years we’ve developed an organised, well-executed plan, but this year customers have told us loud and clear that they don’t want to be held hostage to a day or two of sales.”

Black Friday is a tradition which started in the US, and is a day when some retailers offer large discounts both online and in-store. It has become huge over the past two years, and seems crazy that any retailer wouldn’t want to take part! Let’s hope no more of our favourite retailers choose to follow suit.

Asda have a fantastic sale on right now, it’s worth checking out.
