BBQ On A Budget!

The Great British weather can’t make up it’s mind what to do from one day to the next.The sun is currently out in Newcastle and we need to make the most of the sunshine while it lastsQ! I know lots of people will be dusting their BBQ’s off! I’ve put together my top 5 tips for saving money on your summer BBQ parties so you can all host without having to break the bank!

1. Make your own!

Although the pre-packed beef burgers may look like the easy option, it’s almost ALWAYS cheaper to make things yourself! Buying ground beef and mixing herbs and spices in is easier than you may think and only takes a few extra minutes of prep!

2. Plan for leftovers, but not too much!

Have you ever looked at your table after a party and wondered what possessed you to make so much food? Yes you can use some of it for lunch the next day, but lots of it will go in the bin which is a big waste of cash! Be realistic about the amount that you’ll need.

3. Mix up the menu!

You don’t have to go all out with expensive foods, make the most of foods that you already have in your home. Mix it up with colourful pasta salads.

4. Ask everyone to pitch in!

The one thing that’s great about BBQ parties is how casual they are! It’s not unusual to ask your guests to chip in! Whether it’s with food or alcohol, every little helps and it all adds to the fun! It can also make you big savings.

5. Equipment

Once you’ve got all of your food prep in place, the only thing you need to worry about is your equipment. You don’t have to invest in a state of the art BBQ if you’re only planning on having one! These ones will work just as well.
