Cashback apps are taking the world by storm!

There are many ways to save money at the moment if you know where to look for them, but what about saving again on the things you have already saved on.

There is such a thing at the trifecta of saving and it involves little effort on you the consumers part, for example, say a product is on offer in store at half price, this is the first saving you make but its not the last. The second saving is if you have a coupon for it that you have either printed out from the internet or gotten as part of the supermarket’s own coupons, such as when Tesco send them to you or it prints out at the till in Morrisons.  Lovely, you’re thinking, it’s even cheaper, but there is a way of saving even more, or in some cases even making a profit on buying them and that’s with cashback apps.

You’ll be forgiven if you have not heard of them before as they have not been around all that long, but have caught on like wildfire amongst the money saving community and consumers alike. Quite simply they come as a free app you can download to your phone and there are several to choose from. The most widely used one seems to be the one called Shopitize and is slightly different to some of the others. On this app it lists all the products that you can get cash back from and they change every Wednesday, they can be for anything from washing up liquid to blueberries.

How does it work? It’s simple, you use the phone to scan the barcode of the item you have bought and then take a quick picture of the receipt showing the store name, time and date and item bought, and that’s it. The money is kept in your account and you can see on the phone as it accumulates, when you reach a certain amount (it varies by app) you can cash it in. Shopitize uses either BACS payment or you can transfer it to your paypal account.

There are other apps such as Checkoutsmart and Topcashback that don’t require you to scan the barcode of the item it’s just the receipt they’re interested in. The offers vary by store and unfortunately they don’t work on reduced to clear items but…… If the same item appears on more than one app you can claim cash back for it twice, it’s called double dipping and it’s amazing when all the ducks are in a row how much you can save on items.

Happy shoppingxxx
