Charging your phone, you’ve been doing it all wrong!

If you are one of the majority of mobile users who owns a smartphone, then you will understand the daily battery struggle! It’s rare that an average smartphone will even make it through the day with a full charge. However it may come down to the way you’re charging your phone rather than what you’re doing on it.

Many people assume that charging your phone to 100% and then using it until the battery gets drained is the most effective method, however it seems not.

Here’s four tips to help ensure you get the most out of your batteries:

Disconnet your phone when fully charged

Are you guilty of keeping your phone on charge overnight? Me too but It’s not actually advisable. If you keep your smartphone plugged in after it is fully charged, it will continue to receive “trickle charges” to keep it at 100%. The battery remains in a state of high tension that wears down the chemistry within. It’s best not to forget about it while you sleep.

Don’t charge your smartphone to 100%

If fully charged, disconnect your phone from the charger and, if possible, don’t even charge the battery to 100%. This might sound counterintuitive, but high voltage stresses the battery and wears it faster in the long run.

Connect your phone to the charger whenever you can

It is best for your smartphone battery if you charge your phone occasionally and in small doses throughout the day instead of in big charging sessions throughout the day.

Keep your battery cool

Batteries are sensitive to heat. Some phone cases keep the heat from escaping your phone as you charge your batteries. This is not good so check whether your phone heats up during your next charge. If it does get hot then make sure you remove your phone from its case when charging.
