Chocolate recall

This is the worst thing we can all hear…

There has been a chocolate recall!

Does this mean there could be a chocolate shortage in the future?

I know for sure that I won’t have any of these chocolate bars lying around, I don’t buy chocolate to hoard it – only to eat it.

This was originally just thought to affect Germany but it has since been announced that it affects the UK too.

Mars bars, Snickers, Milky Way and Celebrations are being pulled from the shelves in Germany after plastic was found in some chocolates.

In the UK, the same chocolate but the funsize version is affected.

In a statement announcing the huge product recall, Mars Inc. said snacks with a ‘best before’ date of between June 19, 2016, to January 8, 2017, were affected.

The recall covers mostly countries in Europe and does not extend to the US, where Mars is based.

The company has not said how many bars are affected or how much the recall will cost.

The food giant said it has decided to voluntarily recall some products as a precaution.

“With this recall, we would like to prevent consumers who have purchased one of the above-mentioned products from consuming it,” the company said in a statement.

The UK’s Food Standards Agency (FSA) said: “Mars has just confirmed to the FSA that there has been UK distribution of products recalled in the Netherlands and Germany. We are awaiting full distribution details from the company and will publish advice shortly.”

If you have any of the affected chocolate, yes highly unlikely I know, then take it back to the store you purchased from for a full refund – no receipt needed.
