Con artists are freezing iPhones with this scam!

Guys, there is a new iPhone scam going around and if you’re not careful you could end up being charged £50!

Scammers are sending messages to iPhones which reads: ‘Warning iOS Crash Report – Due to a third-party application in your phone, iOS crashed. Contact support for an immediate fix.

The message will appear when users go to open the Safari internet app and it contains a number which it urges you to call. Usually 0800 279 6211 or 0800 652 4895, but doing so would leave you with a £50 bill! 

When the message pops up it will temporarily freeze your handset but there is a way to fix it.

  • Press the Home button to exit Safari
  • Turn on Airplane Mode in settings
  • Look for Safari settings and clear your internet browsing history and cookies
  • Re-open Safari and the pop-up warning should have gone
  • Turn off Airplane Mode

Make sure you do notring the number stated on the messageThe person answering the phone will tell you all your details have been removed from your handset by a third party, and demand a sum to ‘unlock’ them. So if you don’t want to end up with a £50 bill, It’s best to just ignore at all costs!
