Enjoy a free upgrade to Microsoft’s Windows 10!

We all like something for free, right? Well how about a whole new operating system for your Windows PC? Microsoft will be giving the new Windows 10 system away for one year, from the launch on 29th July. Windows 10 includes the Cortana voice assistant, as seen in the Windows Phone adverts, so you can talk to your computer to find out information. There’s also a new faster browser called Edge, a smarter Start Menu that’s more like your smartphone, and many other improvements.

If you have a PC currently running Windows 7 or Windows 8, then you’re probably in line for the free update. You can reserve a free copy now by going to this Microsoft page (http://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows/windows-10-upgrade). If you have really old PC running Windows XP or Vista, then you might want to head out now and buy a cheap Windows 8 PC replacement, as stores will be trying to get rid of them before the new Windows 10 models arrive, to coincide with the operating system. That way, you still get a PC you can use for the free upgrade, but you’ll likely save some money too, as prices will probably rise for the upgrade season.

Windows 10 will make it easier to integrate data with your smartphone, cloud storage services, and so on. If you have a Windows tablet, then you can do some work on your desktop, and carry on with a tablet instantly. Windows 10 will also feature improved graphics support, so your older PC might run your games a little faster. You may also get a better experience playing new games, with recent titles like Witcher 3 and Project Cars all getting a boost from the new DirectX 12 graphics drivers.

Windows Phone users won’t be left out either, with Windows 10 Mobile also to be made available as a free update. That will improve the links to data stored on your PC. With future updates going to be free as well, make sure you take advantage of this year-long upgrade period, even if you don’t have a PC that can take advantage of it just yet.
