Have you got a Beko Tumble Dryer in your house? The company have recalled five of their models, including one which caused a fatal blaze. Beko have urged owners to stop using the dryers and to unplug them.

The manufacturer has issued a safety alert for the tumble dryers over fears they could burst into flames, following the news that a DCS85W model caused a house fire which killed a mother of two.

The BBC reported: “Beko is alerting customers with 8kg and 9kg Beko and Blomberg condenser tumble dryers, manufactured between May and November 2012, to register for a free modification, if required, after checking the model and serial number.”

Customers can check the model and serial number by visiting the Beko repair site or the Blomberg repair site and entering the model number into the online product checker, or by calling the freephone number 0800 917 2018

Beko stated: “We have identified a batch issue with a third party supplied component which in rare circumstances could fail and overheat, which could lead to a risk of fire”. The company said the fault was highlighted during “regular monitoring”, but that a full recall was unnecessary.
