Greggs to shake up their menu

It seems customers are divided on the announcement.

When you head to Greggs, you usually opt for a pastry and a drink. Greggs is fab for fast food on the go but lately they have added some great alternatives to their menu such as fruit pots, salads and yogurts.

They have now gone a step further and are thinking about adding sushi, gluten free and vegetarian ranges to the menu too.

Chief executive Roger Whiteside said;

”We will always be a bakery and sausage rolls will always be part of that, but we’re trying to leverage that with demand for healthier options. “We’re looking at a number of things including a gluten free range and more vegetarian ideas. We’re also looking seriously at Mexican food, it’s struggled in the UK for years but is gaining a foothold, and it’s not impossible that we’ll see sushi on the menu one day.”

Roger Whiteside added that the firm is looking to open up to 70 new stores, creating over 1,000 new jobs in the process.

Its healthy food range now accounts for 10% of sales and is seeing double digit growth, helping it notch up a 25% rise in profits to £73 million last year.

So what do you think of this? I am not a sushi lover so I won’t be trying it…
