Hooker & Young Award Winning Hairdressers

I had heard good things about Hooker & Young, which is an award winning hairdressing salon local to me in Newcastle.

So when I was invited along for a hair make over, I jumped at the chance!

Hooker & Young are an award winning salon based in the North East of England. They have branches in Gosforth, Ponteland, Wynyard and Jesmond. I visited their Gosforth branch which is located inside the Marriott Hotel.

I have awful hair. Split ends, always looks extremely flat, faded colour etc but because I am always so busy with Ashleigh Money Saver, I rarely get the chance to a salon and sort it out.

When I entered the salon, my hair was lank, a faded light brown colour and I just felt like I could do nothing with it.

I had a days holiday coming up so I decided I would eventually do something about my hair as it was getting embarrassing. I do a lot of photo shoots and TV work now and I didn’t want poor hair in anymore photos.

I had a rough idea of what I wanted done when I went into the salon but I talked it through with the stylist, Kate, who was extremely helpful.

I wanted a darker brown with a red ombre. After talking to Kate, she advised me the colour of brown I wanted would be too harsh for my pale skin but she got out a colour chart and showed me the colours that would suit me and the ones that would work best together.

Whilst Kate was colouring my hair, we were talking about what I would like to achieve by the end of the visit. I wanted healthy looking hair with plenty of bounce and volume in it.

Once my hair was washed and ready to style, I was already impressed with the colour, Kate definitely knew what she was talking about when she was recommending colours to suit my skin tone.

Kate showed me how to blow dry and style my hair to give it maximum volume and bounce, also showing me how best to back comb and what products to use to get the most out of my hair.

I am majorly impressed with my new hair colour and highly recommend Hooker & Young to everyone, men as well as women! Not only are their stylists fantastic at their job, they are experts in what they do.
