This insulting advert for plus size shorts has had people in uproar

Is body shaming becoming too much of a common problem?

I’ll be the first to admit I’m plus size and also the first to admit I really don’t care! I am happy in my body, I love chocolate a little too much – if anyone has a problem with that then I’ll eat them too 😀

However, not everyone has the confidence to stand up to body shammers. It doesn’t matter if you’re ‘too big’ or ‘too small’ someone is always going to have a problem with it.

However, when Wish advertised a pair of plus size shorts on a slimmer model, it caused up roar.

Wish have now been accused of body-shamming and I think people could be right, there was no need to promote the shorts in this way.

But one British fashion designer has gone a step further by posting her own response to the ad online after reading about it on Hello Giggles – and she stuck two middle fingers up at the situation.

Christina Ashman , 27 from Bristol, posted a photograph to Facebook of herself modelling a skirt made for smaller ladies on her leg.

Christina said ”I don’t have any formal qualifications in marketing, but if plus size ladies buy shorts based on how one leg looks on a whole petite woman, then maybe smaller ladies will buy skirts based on how the whole thing looks on one pretty thunderous thigh. I thought it was ridiculous. You don’t sell clothes by shaming the target audience.

“It’s fine if you’re using a small model in small clothes, but to put a petite model in one leg of some plus-size shorts is just unnecessarily insulting.”

Wish have yet to comment on the matter.
