Le Raaj restaurant review

We were lucky enough to be invited along to Le Raaj to try their lunch menu.

Le Raaj restaurant review

Every so often I am invited to various restaurants or launch parties, in return I write a review for them but I will only give my honest feedback. If you would like me to do this for you, then please get in-touch 🙂

Le Raaj has been open a while in Chester-Le-Street but they have recently opened their restaurant in Sedgefield, it’s great to see local businesses expanding and doing well 🙂

My family and I were invited along to Le Raaj indian restaurant in Sedgefield to try their lunch menu. We were all looking forward to this as we are fans of Indian food but we have only ever had take-out, we have never been in an Indian restaurant before.

As we pulled into the car park we were all pleasantly surprised at the entrance, with marble pillars and spotlights leading the way it was hard to believe a restaurant like this was pretty much on our door step!

On entering the restaurant we were greeted by 2 very friendly members of staff. They lead us to a table by the window which is great for the kids as they love to play ‘spot the yellow car’ when we are waiting for our meals in resturants – yes, they are easily pleased haha.

The restaurant was much bigger than I expected and it looked fantastic. There were traditional Indian ornaments and music playing which gave the place a very authentic feel.

We placed our drink orders while reading through the lunch menu, the children usually opt for a children’s meal everywhere we go but when they seen the lunch menu they decided they wanted to order from that instead as it sounded delicious.

The lunch menu consists of a starter, a main including either basmati rice or plain naan bread followed by coffee or ice cream for £8.95 each. You can pay an extra £1 for any other rice or naan.

Our drinks arrived within minutes and the waiter took our order there and then.

It wasn’t until we were putting our order in that we realised that we had all opted to go for the same starter and same main course dish, this was going to be very easy for the chef! We did however order an extra 2 naan breads as Mr Money Saver likes plenty of naan bread when having a curry.

The Chicken Tikka Starter arrived and the attention to detail was fantastic, the children said in chorus ‘WOW’ when it was put on the table. It tasted absolutely delicious too. It came with a side salad and a sharing pot of yogurt sauce which was simply amazing. I hadn’t even heard of yogurt sauce until that day but it is now a firm favourite of mine.

The main course arrived, we had all opted for Chicken Tikka Masala. Some of us chose to have rice with our main, others chose naan bread, however we obviously didn’t know the Indian restaurant etiquette with never visiting one before and the Chicken Tikka Masala and the rice came in bowls separately so you could put as little or as much as you wanted on your plates.

The portion of rice you got each was big so we were able to share 3 bowls amongst the five of us easily. We each had a naan bread too – mine was used to finish up the yogurt sauce!

The main meal was delicious and we all throughly enjoyed it – including the children.

My husband and I have always highly rated our local Indian take-out yet Le Raaj had totally blown that out of the window, we were super impressed.

We all finished off with a bowl of ice cream – a treat for the children as they had been so well behaved.

My husband and I are already planning our next visit to Le Raaj but we are thinking on making it a date night so we don’t have to play ‘spot the yellow car’ 😀
