Meet curvy, tall and petite Barbie! They’re finally here.

Barbie has been under fire for years now with parents insisting the doll promotes an unrealistic body image to young girls.

Well it seems as though Mattel Toys have finally started to listen, they’ve now given Barbie a serious make-over, and she is now available in three different body types! You can now purchase a curvy, tall or petite Barbie doll and not only that but she also comes with seven different skin tones.
This is surely a big breakthrough for Barbie and she now represents healthy and realistic body images and reflects diversity amongst young girls. I can’t believe It’s taken this long.

Evelyn Mazzocco, the senior vice president of Barbie said:

“We are excited to literally be changing the face of the brand – these new dolls represent a line that is more reflective of the world girls see around them – the variety in body type, skin tones and style allows girls to find a doll that speaks to them.We believe we have a responsibility to girls and parents to reflect a broader view of beauty.”

The new dolls will also boast 24 new hairstyles, including an afro, curly red hair and even long blue hair, a big difference from the traditional long blonde hair we’re used to seeing on the shelves.

The new collection is now available to pre-order in the US and should be hitting the UK soon.
