Mini heat wave leads to health warning!

There is set to be a mini heatwave hitting the UK from midday tomorrow as the Met Office states that there is an ‘80% probability of a heatwave.’

A Met Office spokesman has told ITV News: ”Heatwaves can be dangerous, especially for the very young or very old or those with chronic disease.”

The next 48 hours are described as a ‘mini heatwave’ as it is less than the at least five days of prolonged hot weather which usually constitutes a heatwave and therefore vulnerable people have been warned to stay indoors. Social workers and other council staff have been placed on high alert to help those who might be struggling as temperatures soar.

Unfortunately the hot weather can’t last forever and severe thunderstorms are predicted to strike by Wednesday afternoon!

The Met Office spokesman went on to say:“Temperatures are expected to build on Tuesday and into Wednesday, with the hottest day of the year so far expected on successive days this working week.”

The heatwave is caused by a warm front and tropical continental air mass from Europe pushing across the country – bringing with it high temperatures and humidity. The heatwave is said to be especially dangerous for those with breathing difficulties!
