Mum who pierces babies’ ears for £10 accused of child abuse!

There has been another backlash surrounding parents who allow their babies to get their ears pierced.

I have heard from you a lot in the past about this debate. Some of you guys think it is harmless as the younger the child is then the less it hurts while others think it is cruel and unnecessary.

I’m sure though, no matter what your view is on the matter, if you were going to get your child’s ears pierced, you would go somewhere clean, safe and reputable and avoid getting them done like this?

A mother on a Channel 5 TV show happily puts the tots under the needle for extra cash, and needless to say it has caused outrage for child abuse campaigners.

The lady puts the babies as young as six months under the needle to make some extra cash and it has provoked the on-going argument about whether or not ear piercing on babies should be banned. An online petition calling on the government to ban the practise has already gained 40,000 signatures.

The petition reads: “It is a form of child cruelty. Severe pain and fear is inflicted upon infants unnecessarily.

“It serves no purpose other than to satisfy the parent’s vanity. Other forms of physically harming children are illegal- this should be no different.”

The campaign was started by a woman called Susan who has called for a minimum legal age for ear piercing on children.

  1. Personally I see this as a form of child abuse. Parents don’t like their children getting inoculated but it’s for the greater good. I’m quite sure if a baby had the choice it certainly wouldn’t be put through needless pain/trauma in the sake of it’s parents vanity! It is barbaric!!
