New action is being taken after tumble dryer fires.
We’ve been trying to keep you updated every step of the way with the Tumble Dryer recall situation as I know so many of you have been affected.
Well there has been another announcement released as one house fire thought to have been caused by one of the faulty tumble dryers has unfortunately been fatal.
ITV have now reported that a new scheme is being launched to ensure that people who buy faulty electrical goods receive automatic alerts in the event of a product recall.
Apparently, over 5.3m Hotpoint, Indesit and Creda tumble dryers have been affected and 750 fires have been caused by faulty Hotpoint, Indesit and Credia tumble dryers since 2004.
The new programme from the UK’s Retail Ombudsman will request contact details from customers at the point of sale, the details will then be put on a central register.
In the event of a recall, the buyer will then be automatically notified by text or email if they need to act about their faulty appliances.
This new scheme is intended to speed up the informing process for customers and make sure as many people are aware of the dangers as possible. This will ultimately reduce the risk.
