‘Normal, Realistic Barbie’ aims to teach girls about puberty.

This new doll which has been dubbed the ‘realistic Barbie doll’ has caused quite a bit of a debate amongst parents.

The doll, which is intended to help teach young girls about puberty and periods, even comes with cellulite and sanitary towels!

‘Normal Barbie’s’ proportions are made to look like the average 19-year-old woman, although some parents are frowning upon the new creation.

The manufacturer worked with his mum to create the “Period Party” extension kit, which comes with 19 coloured pads, a leaflet on how periods work, a spare pair of underwear and a calendar with small stickers to let girls track their periods.

The Sun reported: ‘While many have praised the doll for “breaking down the stigma” against periods, there are concerns it may have gone one step too far.

Mags Sikora, co-founder of PeriodBox said to HuffPost UK: “What is the targeted audience of these dolls? I am not entirely sure a conversation about periods at the age of four would really help.”’
