Do people post on social media without thinking first?

In a world where everyone and their dog (sometimes literally) have social media – do we often post without thinking?

We can all think of that one friend who updates their status with goodness knows what after a night out and 9 times out of 10 it is harmless and it suddenly disappears the next day when they have woken up with a dreadful hangover.

But what if you take it too far?

A disturbing photo was posted to Facebook last week and has caused police and other law enforcement agencies in Memphis to launch an investigation.

The photo shows two young children with duct tape tied around their hands and on their mouths.

The woman who posted the picture, Jaton Justsilly Jaibabi, appears to be the children’s mother, but that has not been confirmed as she has since deactivated her account.

The caption alongside the photo read ‘Kids For Sale, 45% Off because they bad’

Now, I am not trying to make myself out to be the perfect mother, but surely even she knew it was too far? I wouldn’t dream of duct taping my children!

Luckily someone alerted the police of the photo straight away and an immediate investigation was launched.

Many Facebook users are outraged at the photo and are demanding that the children be taken out of the home, the woman’s cousin, Derion King, is defending her saying ”I don’t really to much care about the people they have opinions,’ a post on King’s Facebook page reads. Our family and friends know the love we have for all the kids in our family it’s just crazy that out of a whole lifetime they judge a person off of this one event. Basically a joke at the moment that people just went overboard about. People make mistakes and that’s what this situation is, a lesson learned. They are safe, unharmed, and loved that’s all it is to it”

Do you think this woman went too far? Is a police investigation really necessary?
