Two child car seats from manufacturer Recaro have been recalled after they failed safety tests.
The company have issued a full recall for the Recaro Optia car seat, as well as a partial recall of the Zero.1 car seat.
After the consumer body Which? revealed that the Optia seat could detach from its base in the event of a crash, Recaro decided to recall the model for the safety of young car passengers.
Customers who have bought this model of car seat are being asked to return it to Recaro, who will replace it.
The manufacturer have only issued a partial recall of the Zero.1 car seat, after in-house testing found an issue with the restraint system.
Affected Zero.1 seats have an issue where the belt that holds the child can become loose in certain conditions. This is due to an error in the manufacturing of the belt adjuster and could potentially lead to a safety risk in seats used in the direction of facing travel.
Those who own one of the affected Zero.1 seat can apply to receive a new seat for free, and have been advised to only use the affected seat in a rear-facing position until their replacement car seat is delivered.
Customers can check if their car seat is affected by a recall by visiting the manufacturer’s website, or calling 0800 0830 128.
