Rent out your home as a film set and make money!

This may not be the most conventional way to earn cash but it is definitely a possibility.

Somebody mentioned this to me a while ago and I didn’t really think much of it, but after doing my own research into it and finding out that some people could earn up to £2,500 a day, I thought it might be worth spreading the word!

How does it work?

Well production crews are always on the lookout for homes to use in TV programmes and films, lots of scenes are filmed in studios and on set, but often the companies will be looking for a more believable setting. And that’s where you would come in. If your home was chosen then the crew would be in filming for an agreed amount of time. It could be a day, it could be a week but the longer the project the more you’d get paid.

You don’t have to live in an imaaculate mansion in order to qualify for this, there’s a need for all kinds of settings.

How do I volunteer my home?

If this sounds like something exciting you’d like to take part in then here’s how. Basically you sign yourself up to an agency like Lavish Locations, Shoot Factory or Amazing Spaces. One you’ve signed up, it is the agencies job to put your home forward and try to get you work.

If your home is unique and stands out from the crowd in any way, then you have more chance of being chosen for filming. Ample parking and large rooms with ample natural light would also work in your favour.

What kind of money could you earn?

The right kind of property in London can “earn” from £500 a day for a magazine photo shoot to £2,500 a day for a big-budget film, as most filming is done around the London area. Documentary makers would pay around £300-£500 per day. For an average home, the fee paid is usually around £1,000 a day, but it would be less for a small place and more for a large home.
