GCSE and A-Level results grades have finally got a confirmed date for the academic 2019/2020 year.

After the coronavirus outbreak closed doors on schools, this news is sure to bring reassurance to students who were due to receive GCSE and A-Level results.

The results of GCSE and A-Level exams will be published on their planned days, the Department of Education has said. This means GCSE grades will be published on 20th August 2020, and A-Level grades established on 13th August 2020.

Due to the fact students haven’t been able to take examinations due to schools being closed, the government have also announced how grades will be calculated. Teachers are being asked to submit assessments on each individual student to the exam boards. The assessments will include teachers’ predictions about what each student would have achieved if they were to have finished the academic year as normal. These predictions will be moderated so that the overall national shares of results and grades are in line with previous years.

Teachers will include an overall judgement, evidence of coursework and mock exams, essays, and homework to produce their student assessments.
