Revealed, what households spend most of their money on?
A new family spending report has looked into the expenditure of families to try and find out what households are spending their money on.
It has been revealed that households are spending most of their weekly budget on transport according to the figures which looked at expenditure in 2014.
Average weekly spending on transport increased by 6 percent in 2014 to £74.80 – up from £70.60 in 2013.
Most of this average spend on transport was on vehicle purchases, but also included petrol and diesel, air, rail and bus fares.
Housing, fuel and power was a close second at £72, followed by recreation and culture which households spent an average of £68.80 on.
