Risk of child tax credit being limited to two children per family!

David Cameron is set to give an extremely important speech later today in which he will set out his plans to improve ‘social mobility’ by tackling low wages, cutting tax and slashing the welfare bill.

ITV news have just reported that Cameron is expected to announce his plan to limit child tax credit claims to two per family which could affect thousands of families, although we do not know for certain if this will go ahead yet.

The speech will see Cameron renew his promises in three key areas:

Stronger families  – to increase free childcare and flexible working, as well as expanding the ‘Troubled Families’ programme to an extra 400,000 families

tor

First – class education – A ‘zero tolerance’ approach to failing schools and a harder line on ‘coasting’ schools.

Well- paid jobs – Increasing the minimum wage to £6.70; Increasing the personal tax allowance to £12,500 over the next five years; Cutting welfare

It is being reported that in his speech on “opportunity”, Cameron will say Britain needs to move from a “low-wage, high-tax, high-welfare society to a higher wage, lower tax, lower welfare society”.
