Sunburn dolls: Creepy or genius?

Trying to get suncream on a child can be a difficult challenge, but an important one nonetheless! In a bid to try and teach children about the importance of sun protection, Nivea have brought out these UV sensitive dolls that actually burn when they are exposed to the sun!

When these dolls are exposed to the sun’s harmful rays, the doll will quickly turn red. To prevent this from happening, the child must apply suncream to the doll and then its skin tone won’t change. The doll also immediately turns from red back to its normal shade once you apply lotion to the burn, which isn’t the most realistic scenario, but the message is still clear, even if the dolls are slightly creepy looking!

The vice president at FCB Brasil, the company who teamed up with Nivea to make the dolls has saidthis: ‘”Protecting and caringis something we learn from an early age. This emotional bond is what this Nivea action offers. Through the magic of technology, children can see the sun’s effect on the skin of the doll.”

I’d love to hear your opinion on this little creation!
