The Ten-Minute Leeway Rule To Save Us Money

Drivers across England will be relieved to hear that a ten minute leeway rule is being put in place later this month. The new rule means that traffic wardens won’t be able to issue cars with parking fines until ten minutes after their time limit has run out.

Everyone hates that feeling of dread we get when we’re a few minutes late back to our cars, but come next month, we’ll all have an extra bit of confidence in the fact we won’t be getting penalised for the slightest slip ups. The government plan will apply for free and paid – for parking spaces on streets and in off street car parks.

The new rule should come as a pleasant suprise to many shops and businesses who currently lose out on custom due to strict parking rules and regulations nearby, and also to shoppers who have previously fallen victim to the dreaded fines.

Other new measures are currently being put in place, these include a right for residents and local firms to demand that their council reviews parking in their area, including charges and use of yellow lines.

Have you ever been caught out by a CCTV camera car? If so, then you’ll be happy to know that they are soon to be made illegal. Except for those near schools, in bus lanes and on red routes. This should reduce the amount of parking fines issued to the general public which can’t be a bad thing!
