Tesco Food Recall

There has been another food recall following an investigation carried out by the trading standards agency.

It was discovered that Tesco shoppers were being misled about the amount of garlic bread they were being sold, with the contents weighing up to a fifth less than advertised on the packaging.

Thirty-nine packs of the shop’s own-brand garlic bread slices were under the advertised 290g in two shops in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, with one pack weighing just 229.8g.

A Tesco spokesman added: “We take great care to deliver clear information for our customers so they can make informed decisions on the products they buy and to ensure that customers receive the stated quantity of product.

“We are disappointed that errors occurred with a very small number of products and we have worked with our supplier to ensure there is no repeat of the issue.”

As a result Tesco have recalled all of the Bakkavor Foods-made products from all stores in the UK. The move has cost them over £93,000.
