Things To Do And See In Birmingham

Are you planning a weekend away in Birmingham?

Then I highly recommend Holiday Inn Birmingham.

I have been planning a UK city break for a while, it’s lovely just to get away for a few days and we have s much to see and do in the UK.

My mam and my brother, Andrew, decided they wanted to come along too. We chose Birmingham because we had heard they have a fantastic shopping centre and also Cadburys world!

I know the manager of Holiday Inn in Birmingham and he very kindly gave us 2 rooms for 2 nights so we could explore Birmingham.

We got a coach to Birmingham and the hotel was only around 7 minutes walk from the coach station. It is located right in the city centre too, a stones throw away from the train station – it really is the perfect location!

The rooms were huge! We had been given 2 executive rooms and they were lovely. With all the usual touches of a beverage tray (with Galaxy hot chocolate I would like to add! Why don’t every hotel give this?!), toiletries etc but you also got a dressing gown with slippers, a mini bar, a vanity kit, a shoe shine kit, a sewing kit, a bottle of prossecco, bottles of water, a bowl of fruit and a Mar bar! They really have thought of everything.

Breakfast was delicious, it included everything you would find in a full English; Sausage, bacon, black pudding, hash browns, beans , mushrooms etc.  There was a continental section too filled with breads, croissants, little pots of flavoured jams, Nutella, cereals, fresh fruit, sliced meat plus much more.

On the evening, you are spoilt for choice when it comes to the evening meal. There is a fantastic bar area with a outside patio area where you can look down onto the streets of Birmingham. The bar do a great bar menu, you can enjoy favourtires such as pizza, pasta, burgers, lasagne. I opted for the lasagne with garlic bread and it was delicious, my mam and Andrew went for the burger and chips and it looked delicious – they cleared their plates so it obviously tasted just as good.

If you were wanting something a little more special, they have a fantastic restaurant, The Albany. You can get a fantastic 3 course meal in here – definitely somewhere to go on date night or a special occasion.

Like I said earlier, the Holiday Inn in Birmingham is the perfect base for all things to see and do in Birmingham. It was within a 5 minute walk to all of the city centre shops and the AMAZING Bull Ring shopping centre.

We got a taxi to Cadburys world and it cost us less than £10 – Cadburys world is well worth a visit. We had a great day there. Not only do you find out the history of chocolate, you find out how Cadburys came about and how they became popular very fast. You are also given lots of free chocolate while you are there. There is a 3D ride while was a huge hit with all the children that were visiting that day, also a huge outdoor play area for children.
